Contractions

We are learning to find contractions in our stories. We know that contraction are two words that are squashed together. I can find contractions easily because they have an apostrophe in them.

I am good at contractions because I know where the apostrophe goes in the middle and which letter goes away when I squash two words together. My next step in reading is to work on playing the games properly

Fractions

We are learning about fractions. We know that one quarter is when we cut something into four pieces. We also learnt about halves which means we cut something two pieces. Fractions are ½ ¼ and ⅓. With fraction you start with one whole and you cut it into pieces.

I am good at fractions because if I give my brother some sweets and I give him have it will be fair. If I had 6 lollies and I give my brother 2 and I keep 4 it will not be fair so I will give my brother 3 lollies.

Compound sentences

We are learning to write compound sentences. We know that a compound sentence is two sentences that we put together with ‘and’ ‘but’ or ‘because. It can be tricky to make sure we join two sentences together and not just another word to a sentence.

I am getting better at writing compound sentences, I am working hard to concentrate and write more during writing time.

Skip counting backwards from 20 in 2's

I am learning to count backwards from 20 in 2's. It is tricky because I am skip counting and I have miss a number. My next step is to start counting backwards in 2's from a bigger number. First I will do it from 30 and then 40 or 50.
